We had a beautiful day playing Pickleball at the Rancho Arbolitos Swim & Tennis Club in Poway.
Our first shipment of bicycles occurred in April of 2009 to students from a school on the outskirts of Capetown, South Africa.
Qhubeka is a non-governmental organization (NGO) who manufactures and also trains bicycle mechanics and assemblers in South Africa.
Unskilled workers being taught to plant and grow seedlings to re-forest areas of South Africa as part of a skill building effort. Bicycles aid in their replanting efforts in cooperation with Coca-Cola.
Multiple donations were given to community healthcare workers from St. John’s Hospital in Capetown, South Africa . The bicycles allow them to travel to as many as 4 patient homes in per day where previously they could only see 1 patient per day. Bicycles help protect healthcare workers from contracting COVID while performing their duties. Some of our donations have been in conjunction with the Tour de France Foundation.
Bicycles were given to students at several rural high schools where previously, students had to travel on foot more than 5 kilometers each way. These schools were underwritten by Sir Richard Branson's foundation, Pride 'n Purpose. Attendance, GPAs, and graduation rates all increased after the donation of bikes from Do Something Now!
Over 120 new and refurbished bicycles and have been given to multiple orphanages from Tijuana down to Ensenada, Mexico.
Bikes for refugees were distributed by Jewish Family Services.
